Las Vegas: Planet Hollywood on Las Vegas Strip
We have not seen everything or stayed everywhere; we will only offer our opinion on those features we have experienced. We are much more interested in educating our readers on their options.
Planet Hollywood
Address: 3667 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Phone: 702-785-5555, Web site: www.planethollywoodresort.com
Quick facts
Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas Strip is one of the most impressive properties in town. Its commanding structure in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard gives it an importance that draws one’s attention. It’s hard not to stop in and take a look around. For those uninterested in gambling or the entertainment offerings, the Miracle Mile Shops right next door to the resort offer a nice, air-conditioned respite from the blazing Vegas sun. According to a recent Planet Hollywood press release, Miracle Mile hosts many top names, including H&M, Urban Outfitters and French Connection.
Entertainment & Nightlife
With a prime spot on the Strip, Planet Hollywood needs better entertainment offerings. Something to rival the Cirque du Soleil shows is in need at this otherwise impressive resort.
Dining
Including the Spice Market Buffet, Gordon Ramsay BurGR (how cool that it’s missing an “e”), Strip House, Koi (Japanese cuisine) and other fun fare (Pink’s Hot Dogs, P.F. Chang’s), Planet Hollywood’s dining options are numerous and fitting. Ramsay’s place, in particular, sounds scrumptious. Here’s how Planet Hollywood’s website describes it: The restaurant “takes the traditional burger, fries and milkshake comfort food combination to an entirely new level with selections like pork belly bao buns, sweet potato fries with vanilla powdered sugar and pudding shakes.”
Atmosphere
When I visited Planet Hollywood a couple years ago, it had a young vibe. The building seems to enjoy its spot on the Strip, directly across from Bellagio and Cosmopolitan, and seemingly at the heart of it all. It’s more about style and passion. It’s the “centerpiece,” as a press release calls the property.
Location
Location, location, location. Except for maybe the Bellagio, this is as good as it gets.
Gambling Options
The casino features three acres of gaming, although our visit seemed a bit cramped at times. There weren’t many low-end card games, but this is the prime real estate of the Las Vegas Strip, far from downtown.
Room & Pool Options
Hollywood Soapbox has not stayed at this resort, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that many rooms offer unparalleled views of Vegas’ nightlife. Check out the suites and Hollywood Hip Rooms (450 square feet). If you want the best of the best when it comes to views of Las Vegas Boulevard, try the Panorama Suite. Pool options also overlook the Strip, according to a PH press release.
Shopping, Spas & Salons
Planet Hollywood boasts one of the best retail attachments in town. The Miracle Mile Shops offer hotel guests and passersby the chance to take in all the resort has to offer without leaving the comfortable air conditioning. Everything is shiny and top of the line, offering plenty of shopping options. It’s a little strange to think of Las Vegas as a shopping mecca. Most people, we gather, opt for pools, gambling and restaurants, but if paying top dollar for clothes sounds like a fun vacation, PH has a little bit of everything.
