PHOTOS: Dr. Michael White brings his jazzy clarinet to large crowd at French Quarter Fest

NEW ORLEANS — Dr. Michael White, a recording artist on Basin Street Records, is a skilled clarinetist who embodies New Orleans jazz. His records are top-notch affairs that explore the history and possibility of his hometown’s most beloved music genre.

At French Quarter Fest, White performed in the iconic Jackson Square before a crowd that seemed to relish his every musical note. He was backed by a spot-on band that included drums, banjo, trumpet, trombone and piano. His Thursday, April 6 set, taking place a couple hours before Aaron Neville’s headlining concert, firmly placed jazz at the center of FQF, and that’s all right by Hollywood Soapbox.

Relive his set with these photos.
