Maryland Monster Mania to include ‘Batman’ reunion, Roddy Piper, Darth Vader, genre stars
Monster Mania, a powerhouse horror convention that takes place in New Jersey and Maryland every few months, is getting ready for its 26th installment. The next three-day convention will take place Sept. 27-29 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md. There are several horror actors and TV favorites scheduled to appear.
The biggest names surround a planned reunion of the original Batman movie and TV series. Adam West (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin) and Lee Meriwether (Catwoman) will meet fans and sign autographs. Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) recently was forced to cancel her appearance. The Northeast has played host to several conventions with West, Ward and Meriwether, but rarely are they all together signing for fans of the 1960s Batman series/movie.
David Prowse, the actor who played Darth Vader under the mask, will also be in attendance, plus Lou Ferrigno from The Incredible Hulk and Roddy Piper will be there.
True horror fans should not fret for all the focus on TV. Also appearing are George P. Wilbur (Halloween 4 & 6), Danielle Harris (Halloween 4 & 5), R.A. Mihailoff (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street) and Kane Hodder (Friday the 13th 7-10).
Recent additions include Felix Silla, Carel Struycken and Lisa Loring, actors associated with the The Addams Family and its remakes.
Monster Mania charges $25 for admittance on Friday or Saturday, and $20 for Sunday. A weekend pass is $50. VIP passes, which include an autograph and photo op with West, are $200.
