Here goes: A top 5 of the best rock ‘n’ roll and metal shows coming to the United States in the month of April. This is no April fools joke; these acts are the real deal for some ear-splitting fun.

5. Adam Ant — New wave rocker Adam Ant is making the rounds of the United States, bringing his latest tour to theaters and performing arts centers. He’ll stop by the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey, tomorrow, April 3. He’ll surely bring some of his mega-hits to the concert experience, whether that’s “Stand and Deliver,” “Strip,” “Wonderful” or “Goody Two Shoes.” The English Beat are set as openers. Check out Hollywood Soapbox’s review of Ant’s tour in 2018.

4. Ace Frehley — The spaceman is having quite the banner year. His well-received new album, 10,000 Volts, has been getting some serious press and decent reviews, and his never-ending tour, which usually takes him out to different markets on the weekends, continues in the month of April, with a special concert Saturday, April 13, at the Carteret Performing Arts Center in Carteret, New Jersey. Opening for the legendary Kiss guitarist are Angel and White Tiger, which makes this a night to remember. Check out Hollywood Soapbox’s interview with Frehley in 2014.

3. Doyle and Otep — Doyle, the band featuring Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, will join forces with Otep, fronted by Otep Shamaya, for a string of dates across the United States, including a gig Sunday, April 14, at Dingbatz in Clifton, New Jersey. Many people admire Doyle for his guitar work, both with his eponymous band and with the Misfits, who he still performs with every few months. This is a metal-filled opportunity to check out the skills of Doyle on a more intimate level.

2. Plush — This band, fronted by powerful singer Moriah Formica, is quickly becoming an in-demand name on the rock scene. In April, Plush has a few dates on the calendar, including an intimate VIP gig at the annual Rock the Rock Fest, set this year for Thursday, April 25, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This WDHA party also features Staind, Seether, Dayseeker and others. Or, concertgoers can head to the Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck, New Jersey, the next night (April 26) for a headlining show from Plush. Check out Hollywood Soapbox’s interview with Formica earlier this year.

1. Judas Priest — The Priest is back. Other than Frehley’s 10,000 Volts, Judas Priest’s new album, Invincible Shield, is the talk of the rock and metal scene. Most reviews are positive, and American fans are salivating at the chance to hear tunes like “Panic Attack” live. Rob Halford and company will be rocking around the United States for the next two months, including a stop Friday, April 19, at the Prudential Center in Newark. This one is not to be missed.
